Disney Day 2 - Animal Kingdom

Nikki and Tom ran a 5K this morning.  Last night she emailed and asked if I could pick up Gatorade and water at a CVS or a place cheaper than buying $3 bottled water.  Hell yes!  Walmart!!  Kathy & I stopped at one along the way - picked up a 6 pack of water (large bottles with nice pull-out spouts) and 3 bottles of Gatorade.  Cost?  $5!

We arranged to meet at the entrance of AK and it worked out beautifully.  But we didn't have a chance to chat...Kathy had reserved Fast Passes at 3 attractions:  Flights of Wonder, The Lion King show and the Kilimanjaro Safari.  At Flights of Wonder, a show with live birds, it was perfect timing.  We breezed past the "stand-by" line and had our choice of seats.  The show was amusing and wonderful!  A bird flew between Kathy and me - never touching us!  The show lasted about 25 min. and after, we went over to the Lion King.  Again, entered the Fast Pass line (the best thing ever!!) and enjoyed a Cirque du Soleil type performance...very entertaining!  We actually had time to try and get the Safari before our Fast Pass reservation.  That was fun to see the live animals.

Years ago when Animal Kingdom first opened...Nikki & I tried to get in but they were closed for renovations or maintenance.  It was either 1998 or 1999.  And I never went back until this year!  It is true that it doesn't take a whole day to visit this park but it's still a place that should be experienced!

It was a good day.  We left mid-afternoon.  I was hungry and the lines were long at the food court. We ended up going to El Cerro for Latin food.  Pernil, maduros and yellow rice.  A side of crispy but tender pork chiccharones!  Great way to end the day!
