Two Wild and Crazy Girls!

We've said it hundreds if not thousands of times..."we are crazy!!"  But Winnie, my partner in crime & I have found ourselves outside when we should be indoors and in extreme temps!  On the day of a forewarned blizzard, I was out at 6am walking to Queens Blvd hoping the subway was running on time.  It was okay until I got to 42nd and the 1 train.  It stopped running (aiyaaa) and I had to hoofed it to the A/C (long-ass walk) which I found out later...I needed more the C than the A.  Luckily for me, the C arrived first and I hopped on it.  Getting off the 72nd St station but because I happened to be on the last car, exited out at 70th St - making my walk to 67th much shorter.

I had tickets to The Chew and at 2am - was upgraded to Priority though it didn't matter at that point! We met up at 7:15 and everyone was ushered inside to wait (hooray) and it was a very small audience.  At first, they filled seats with interns but then gathered people waiting at The View (next door) to fill up the empty sections.  Winnie had that idea moments before it happened!

After that, we traveled by C to 23rd St - lunched at McDonald's and then attended a taping of Wendy. We were served pizza and soda and partook!  It was a long day...ending with walking back in my front door at 5...so was out almost 12 hours...on a snowy day! Yep...crazy!

Vinegar Hill House

I don't know Brooklyn.  But am discovering bits and pieces as Nikki & Tom chooses different places to dine at.  I wanted to treat Tom for his birthday and he said to meet at Vinegar Hill House for Saturday brunch.

I thought it was in "Brooklyn Heights" since it is in walking distance to Kathy's.  (My knowledge of Brooklyn was Canarsie and Bklyn Hts - both places Kathy lived in).  But Kathy informed me I would be in Vinegar Hill or Ft Greene.  What?  Besides the fact that I thought Ft Greene was way over the opposite end (like near the Verrazano) so this was a big "huh?" moment.

Driving there was easy peasy!  And totally as if I entered another era.  Streets were cobblestoned and low level brick and wood buildings.  Very quiet & quaint neighborhood.  Loved it all.  Food was awesome...company more so!

Dirty Dancing Revisited

I saw Dirty Dancing when it first came out...in 1987 and in Forest Hills on Austin St.  I was with Stan, Ronna and Kevin.  We danced out of that theater and Ronna felt she could recreate that lift move and had Kevin waiting down the street to catch her.  I watched holding my breath as she leaped into the air and slammed into Kevin.  Almost but not quite and we all had a good laugh.  That memory comes up every time I see a mention of Dirty Dancing.

Winnie won tickets for the 30th anniversary screening.  It was equally as fun to watch this with Winnie and Liz.  Movie held up.  I was a bit sad to discovered it wasn't filmed in upstate NY but it made sense because I did wonder where the heck the resort was located.  And Patrick Swayze...swoon....

Week of 01.23.17

This week was a busy one for me.  Talk-show-crawl culminating with a sushi dinner!

01.23.17 - At The View - Cristela was a guest and hilarious!  Giveaway of Coloring Book and Athletic crop pants!

01.24.17 - Wendy!!  Unexpected attendance...Noel called Winnie the night before...:) Sheryl Lee Ralph was the guest.

01.25.17 - The Harry Connick Jr Show - Guests were Patrick Wilson & Andrew Zimmern.  This day holds a significant occurrence.  We were all hungry after the taping and Winnie and I wanted to return to a Hole in the Wall Latino pizzeria place down the street.  It is the kind of place that I have been searching for in Queens.  Hispanic cuisine that is offered hot and in front of you (buffet like).  When I looked on-line, nothing popped up.  I needed the right "words" and Connie suggested I used "pizzeria" and "Latin" and incredibly it worked!!

01.26.17 - Originally I had a dim sum lunch date with Daniel but Noel put Winnie & I on standby for the morning taping.  In the end, he had enough people but I had already changed my lunch plans to dinner plans and added on Willy who drove in from New Hampshire. All worked out great!!

01.27.17 - Here is Jorge's!!  The place I found after my exhaustive search for exactly this!  And it exceeded all expectations....delicioso!!

Closing the Year at Wo-Hop

Wo Hop & JHS mini reunion.  These mini reunion dinners have been consistent and great in that there is a revolving group of people - some new, some old - always fun and interesting. Tonight's dinner - gathered together by Eric - a kind of closing of the old Chinese year - had a new face - May Mui who brought along Billy Lam - a classmate from A&D.  Both I haven't seen in 40 years!
