A Wedding Past

With Nikki's wedding on the horizon, my own wedding day keeps popping up in my head.  Today would have been my 33rd anniversary.  Doesn't seem possible that much time has passed!  I guess I can look at these photos with good feelings because I still have a rather good relationship with Stan.  After all - we did do one thing right!  Looking forward to posting Nikki's wedding photos!!  Love is love. :-)

Tiny Dancer

I heard Donna Summer's Last Dance in my head as I watched Miranda danced at her last recital for Alvin Ailey.  It feels like yesterday when I saw her do her first dance step in her teacher's garage.  It's been an amazing journey to see her grow, mature and become more and more graceful in that dancer's way.  I know even if she never does another pirouette, she will always be a dancer at heart.

Evelyn had a lovely idea to commemorate her time at Ailey by making a scrapbook and having us design a page.  These are my pages and Nikki's:

World's Fair Memories

The 1964-65 NY World's Fair was an incredible endeavor.  My parents, Kathy & I loved visiting there and we were lucky to have visited a few times.  It was, for me, the first inkling of what Disneyland would be, especially when we sat through GE's Carousel of Progress and It's a Small World.  For us kids...it was wondrous!  The grounds were gorgeous as you can see from the photos.  My mom said to me the other day while looking through these photos, that it was such a shame they tore down the buildings and it is hard to believe that they did!

The last photo of Kathy and me standing by a pool was from a model of a modern house.  My mother reminded me that I tortured Evelyn for years telling her that we used to live in a beautiful home such as that until she came along.  She believed it for a long time.  Ahhhh...what a terror I was! Sorry...Bicky...

All dressed up with a place to go!
Very odd that we were so casual and my dad was in a suit and tie carrying a briefcase!
But then mom was always dressed to the 9's!
Those hats...probably purchased at the Fair - had our names embroidered
on the brim.  I wore it quite a bit.

Mother's Day 2014

Another terrific Mother's Day celebration even if we were missing some loved ones...like Kathy, Tony, Kris, Baz and Xavier!  But we talked about them alot so it was like they were there!!

Mom outdid herself with the meal...some store-bought, some she cooked.  We were seven people...had seven dishes:  (take out): chai sui, bean curd rolls, sweet and sour pork (homemade): shrimp in lobster sauce, Chinese veggie, braised mushrooms & beef short ribs.  Evelyn picked up Magnolia cupcakes.  And we all lived happily ever after.  :)

Mother's Day Comes Early

Winnie, Connie - their youngest sister, Lily and I were lucky enough to attend Wendy Williams' Mother's Day show.  And what a show!  It was no secret that we would be getting "something".  The big question was "what"?.  Excitement was rampant throughout the studio but when all was revealed...even we were amazed!  There was much hootin' & hollerin' to be sure!

An 8 piece set of Calphalon pots and pans ($299), Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer ($99) Keurig brewing system($150), Cuisinart hand mixer($80), luxurious organic cotton cable-knit blanket ($115) and $50 Godiva chocolate gift card.

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

SBC: Some Shopping, Some Lobster, Some More Shopping!

It took over 6 months but we were finally able to celebrate Kathy's birthday today!  We were going to go to Mohegan Sun but thinking the ride was too long..back and forth, she asked to do some shopping and more importantly have the lobster special at City Island.  No one complained (not that we would...after all - it is her birthday and her choice) but even so...I don't think any of us had a problem with her request.  The thought of eating that delicious lobster filled all of our heads and we were more than ready when we arrived at the restaurant.

We first did some shopping at Rego Center.  The girls rode in on the subway where I picked them up from the Forest Hills station.  We made stops at a local dollar store and Lots Less.  Then we went to Kohl's. Aldi's and Costco.  We had split up...some went to TJMaxx, Century 21 and Payless.  After devouring our lunch, we drove to College Point where we stopped at BJ's Target and Deal$.  Yes, baby...we are all shopped out!  But how great it was to have the Sister's Birthday Club all together once again!  Happy Birthday, Kathy!!

My starter: New England Clam Chowder...Kathy & Connie had Manhattan CC
(shown in the background)and Winnie had a very good looking salad!
